A Duel of Performance Over Time

In Der Musikclub, victory is won by sustaining the best musical performance over time.

Every sound matters. Every second is accounted for. The game unfolds as two DJs share a single booth, each sending music from their playlists into a common mixer that evaluates everything continuously. You are not acting in isolation. Every decision contributes to a shared soundscape that is always in motion.

Each DJ arrives with a personal crate: a deliberate selection of songs, effects, and loops that defines their approach to the system. Play alternates as tracks are staged, techniques are applied, and structure is added to the mix. Nothing enters the mixer accidentally. Order, timing, and restraint determine what endures.

Time Is the Medium

Der Musikclub is not measured in turns, but in seconds.

Your available time is visible. It can be adjusted, borrowed, and spent—but never ignored. Some actions occur in parallel, shaping the performance without advancing the clock. Others are final and editorial, changing the mix and ending your turn.

Time is not a pacing device.
It is the primary constraint under which mastery emerges, measured by a deceptively simple 2d6 tracker per player.

Build the Mix. Maintain the Balance.

All the songs get sent to the mix. The crowd responds with hits, and pushes back when it's bad!

As songs accumulate, volume rises. Frequencies stack across soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. Color flows through the playlist, expanding and contracting as new material is introduced at its edges. The system rewards cohesion and punishes excess.

Push too far in any register and negative feedback takes over.
Overload the mix and all progress collapses at once—no points, no advantage, no victory. Balance is not optional. It is required to keep the crowd on the dancefloor.

Hold the Peak

Victory in Der Musikclub is not achieved by reaching a moment, but by holding it.

When volume is tuned, frequencies are complete, and the mix carries sufficient weight, the endgame begins. From that point forward, every action is pressure. Your opponent is no longer trying to build—they are trying to break what you have sustained.

The peak must persist.
Across your turn.
Across their response.
And through your return to the booth.

Be the first DJ to sustain a 10/10 and you then will win!
